Day 9 - Heading to Quy Nhon

Today was a much needed blah day.
Dad and I woke up early in the morning, so we decided to pass time by walking around the main park in Saigon. I didnt take any pictures but you guys shouldve seen it! like HUNDREDs of fobby old asian people, walking, play badminton, doing exercises with loud music going "1, and 2, and 3 and 4..." hahah it was funny. The whole place smelled like Bengay, Salon pass, and dầu xanh.Dad met this guy on a wheel chair with no legs who was selling lottery tickets in the streets. He was a Vietnam veteran and didn't know that there were fundraisers in the US that raised money for people just like him. Apparently, veterans in need who live in Vietnam were given about $100 each every year. My dad got his army number and name to make sure he gets help in America. What a nice guy.

Then we went out to eat with my mom and dads rich friends and our family. We ate more seafood.... whats new.

Grilled shrimp shishkabob
Deep Fried squid. Sea Snails.

mom and i ate some exotic fruits, like:

Durian.
(It smells like fart, looks like diarrhea, but tastes creamy and delicious)
Măng cụt (Mangosteen) and Chôm Chôm (Rambutan)
Chôm Chôm is a lot like a lychee but it has like a spikey outer shell while Măng cụt is like.. iunno.. no other fruit I've ever seen. Reminds me of a brain tho.

We finished packing and got to the train station at 10 pm. We stayed in a small room with 4 beds and our trip was like 9 hours long but at least it was overnight so i slept the whole way through.

My mom's wearing funny glasses cuz she just got a eye lift (its cheaper to do it in Vietnam) and her eyebrows tattooed. I dont think she wanted me to post that information on the internet but too bad. muahah!

I peed in that. It wasn't pleasant. Even though there were foot platforms, a little urine still splattered on my sandals and toes. ew, i know.

My grandma lives in the countryside near Quy Nhon. We're having a little reunion there. I'm scared cuz there's lots of mosquitoes and they like my blood.

never been to vietnam, yet have heard so much great things about it, and of course the humidity.. something i have gotten use to .. going to HK 3-4 times a year.. and singapore.. is really bad humidity.. and of course the unpredicted rain showers that come along.. but would definitely would want to know if the pho and the spring rolls taste any better than the U.S. seems like the bathrooms are more old style than western style..the only thing i hate is humidity.. other than that.. i have no problem. hehe.. great pix.. great vids.. finally got the chance to read the blog.. great job!!...tell trieu.. that arthur wong says congrats and sup?
