Day 2 - In Need of Sandals

Hey Everyone! I'm back and this is day numero dos of the trip. Today, we ran a lot of little errands in preparation for the wedding as well as squeezing in a little shopping.

We started our day off with supposedly the best Bún bò Huế in Ho Chi Minh City. I also had a couple bites of banh mi that we got from a neaby stand just to compare it to banh mi ba le (its behind my bowl). Eh, it was okay, not much of a difference.

HhahahahhAHhah! You're probably thinking I'm laughing at Chi Tim's (The fiancée's) expression, but try taking a closer look.

HAhahahHH!!! The poor kid literally spent 10 mintutes picking his nose. See how he's wiping his other hand on his pants?? That's cuz he had just finished switching hands. HAHahaah!

We went to try on the numerous wedding outfits. Here are a couple.

Then we checked out the wedding invitations, the restaurant, and the hotel that my family from Qui Nhon are gonna stay at. Later in the evening, we went to the Chợ Bến Thành for food and shopping.

Its pretty much a cross between a swap meet and farmers market.

This is some random lady selling bánh tráng (large rice crackers). Iunno.. I thought it was pretty interesting.

We decided to eat inside the market. I got the combination of bánh bèo, bánh bột lọc, and other random stuff. I didn't eat the chả lụa and two of the bánh bột lọc cuz, iunno.. it wasn't delicious, just kinda average. I ordered another plate of just bánh bèo instead which was indeed delicious.

We sat in front of a colorful array chè,

and drank coconut juice!

Then we did a little shopping to buy some little gifts and souvenirs. Today, I got stuff for my future apartment mates (Leslie, Patty, Kimmy & Riza!). Mom & Dad arrive in Vietnam tomorrow but its gonna be during the fiancé's photoshoot for the wedding so I havn't decided if i wanted to go watch or pick up my parents from the airport. hmm....

I forgot my sandals at the facial place last night and walked out with their cheap sandals that they made us change into instead. I returned to the place to switch it back this morning only to forget it in the taxi cab 5 minutes later. Ugh.. I'm so forgetful. They were the $55 Rainbow brand ones and the only pairs of sandals I brought :( SO then i went to buy a some more sandals but my feet were too big for their shoes (and I wear a size 7.5!). Now I gotta wear flats that hurt my feet .. and I bet you they're gonna start smelling dank by the end of the week cuz I've been sweating like ka-ray-zee in this humidity.
